Specialist support for students with learning difficulties

About Primary Skills Tutoring

At Primary Skills Tutoring, I provide specialised support for students with learning difficulties on the Mornington Peninsula and online. My name is Liz, and I am a qualified teacher with over 20 years of experience, including five years working specifically with students who have learning difficulties.

I ensure my my lessons are enjoyable and supportive for children who find learning difficult and frustrating. I know every child can learn and thrive when they feel understood and supported. Guided by both professional experience and lived understanding, my approach is inclusive, evidence-based, and tailored to each learner - helping students grow in confidence, feel capable, and rediscover a love of learning.

I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach and have completed post-graduate qualifications - Graduate Certificate in Education (Learning Difficulties) at the University of Melbourne. My teaching is grounded in evidence-based methods, including systematic synthetic phonics and the Science of Reading, to support students with dyslexia in developing strong reading and spelling skills. I also use structured, research-backed strategies to help students with dyscalculia build their confidence and understanding in numeracy.

At Primary Skills Tutoring, every session is tailored to the individual learner. I provide a supportive, positive environment where students can develop essential literacy and numeracy skills — and the confidence to succeed both in and beyond the classroom.
